The original tarball was downloaded from http://bragg.phys.uwm.edu/xforms/
(now moved to http://world.std.com/~xforms/)

The Debian source archive is not pristine. We needed a way to hold binaries
for the library for multiple architectures. The archive consists of:

  ftp://bragg.phys.uwm.edu/pub/xforms/linux/elf/bxform-089-glibc2.1.tgz
  (now ftp://ncmir.ucsd.edu/pub/xforms/linux-i386/elf/bxform-089-glibc2.1.tgz)

A directory libformsX-X/FORMS/i386/ was then created with symlinks to the
i386 libraries:

   libforms0.89-0.89/FORMS/i386/libforms.a  -> ../libforms.a
   libforms0.89-0.89/FORMS/i386/libforms.so.0.89 -> ../libforms.so.0.89

The powerpc version of the libraries (from its own version of
bxform-089-glibc21.tgz) were placed in another directory:

   libforms0.89-0.89/FORMS/powerpc/libforms.a
   libforms0.89-0.89/FORMS/powerpc/libforms.so.0.89

The same operation was done for the fd2ps and fdesign binaries.

The `debian' directory was added and this makes up the libformsX_X-Y.tar.gz
file. As binaries for other Debian-supported architectures become
available, new tar files will be build to include them.

This method allows us to create a _new_ libforms0.89_0.89-X.tar.gz file
every time a new architecture is added upstream (and ask the porters to
build it).

alpha architecture was added to libforms0.89_0.89-5.tar.gz from:

  ftp://ncmir.ucsd.edu/pub/xforms/linux-alpha/bxform-089-glibc2.1.tgz
  dated:  Sat Oct 16 16:27:00 1999
  size:   1723054
  md5sum: 16cc1583dcf3b2be49d7364760337c4a

-

m68k architecture was added to libforms0.89_0.89-6.tar.gz from a V0.89.1
build from sxform-Mar2500.tgz provided by Upstream.
