Virtual scan mode:

Virtual scan mode uses many of the common scan commands, and
adds several more commands to interact with virtual newsgroups. This
document explains the new commands, and other differences between
virtual scan mode and other scan modes.

Virtual scan is very much like the article scan mode, with
some commands similar to group scan mode. The movement commands are
the same as the other scan modes. Many other commands
(&,&&,!,H,/,?,g, and control-L) act the same. Here are the commands
which act differently:

SPACE bar, RETURN/ENTER
If no articles are marked, this command reads the pointed-to
article. If articles are marked, the first marked article is read
(and unmarked).
Currently the virtual mode simply enters the appropriate
newsgroup and starts reading the selected (or marked) article. You
can do any article-level commands, including entering the trn thread
selector or the strn article scan mode. If you do a command which
requires a score strn will initialize the scoring for the current
group. (Strn will delay scoring to speed up entry into a newsgroup.)
Virtual scan mode has a "follow" option like the article scan
mode--see the 'f' command below for more information. To leave the
newsgroup and return to virtual scan mode, type the 'q' key.

r
This key reads the pointed-to article, first, then any marked
articles. It is similar to the article scan mode command 'r'.

U
Toggle display eligibility. "unread" means that only unread
articles will be displayed. "unread+read" means that articles that
have been read will be displayed too.

f
Toggle the follow option on/off. If the option is on,
"follow" will be displayed in the top line of virtual scan mode. The
follow option determines whether to return to virtual scan mode after
reading a selected article (follow off), or to continue reading
in the current newsgroup (follow on). Typing an explicit movement
command within a newsgroup (such as 'n', control-n, or 'p') will turn
on a temporary follow option within the newsgroup.
It may be useful to turn the follow option off if one wants to
read several marked articles without returning to the virtual scan
mode. If the follow option is off, typing space at the end of the
selected article will go to the next marked article. Typing 'q' in a
newsgroup will always return to the virtual scan mode.

a
Toggles author display. Turning off author display yeilds
more room for the subject and newsgroup.

G
Toggles newsgroup display. Reduces screen clutter, especially
when all the articles are from one newsgroup. (Such as in a "best of
rec.humor" vgr.)

S
Toggles the "subjonly" flag. If this flag is on (look at the
top line), the true subject of each article will be used, rather
than a subject from a virtual newsgroup file.

control-E
Edits the current virtual newsgroup file. This command acts
like the group scan command control-E.

h
Prints the virtual scan mode quick reference of commands.

j
Junks (makes article read) the currently pointed-to article.

y
Yanks (makes article unread) the currently pointed-to article.
(the command name is taken from Emacs)

m
Marks or unmarks article for reading or a later command.

Y
	Yanks all marked articles.

J
	Junks all marked articles.
	(strn will ask for confirmation)

X
Junks all unmarked articles, and starts reading the first
	marked article.
	(strn will ask for confirmation)

D
Junks all unmarked articles on the current page, and starts
	reading the first marked article.
